Bodies and Souls, or Spirited Bodies? (Current Issues in Theology) by Nancey Murphy

I have not read this book, but I have heard Dr. Murphy present her ideas, which are really mainstream in many theological circles. This is that the idea that body-soul dualism (or even a body-soul-spirit view) comes from Greek philosophy and not the New Testament. According to Murphy, the “I” is part of the body and dies with the body. The New Testament does not teach soul immortality but rather resurrection, when the body, which is all we are, is brought back to life by the power of God, the only being with true immortality.
